The Jolly Rogues filled every wish we had for our Celtic evening. They were so professional and at the same time warm and very interactive with the family. Each year we do a different family themed Christmas party and next year I want to do Celtic again just so we can have them back!! Truly the best!!

Thanks so much, Jim, to you and all the Rogues!!!  What a great day we had!  I talked to my parents this morning and they are still "high" and couldn't stop raving about the Jolly Rogues.  I don't think anyone had more fun than my parents did, especially my dad.  It was all just perfect!  The song choices were wonderful, and the performance was above and beyond anything we could've expected.  We definitely want to have the Jolly Rogues come play for us again!!!

All the best,

Nancy

Artist: Jolly Rogues
Album: "14 Miles To Boston"
Year produced: 2006

Nearly everything this band does has its basis in history. The title of the CD, for example, harkens back to the 1700's, and refers to the distance from the Hartwell tavern to Boston. The album is filled with variety--Irish and Scottish music--children's songs, ballads and more, taking one back in time to days where music was one of the best ways to relieve the stress of the day. You'll find true emotions here--sometimes sad, sometimes merry.

The band itself sounds terrific--really smooth, and although the musicianship is stellar here, the more voices on the track, the better it sounds. When they all sing together, you really get a feel of people gathering to make the best of their lives and sharing their joys and sorrows. It feels good to be transported there through song.

With wonderful, traditional songs, good sound and a healthy respect for our heritage as well as that of the Celtic ancestors who brought their music here, this band is pretty amazing. Weaving all those strands together, this CD is truly a great listen, as it speaks right to the heart.

Absolutely fabulous! They were very professional, contacted me with perfect timing and just the right questions. Knew exactly what needed to be done and provided a superb performance as well. We had a very diverse group of guests at our wedding and they all loved the music! I highly recommend the Jolly Rogues. <>

Dear Mr. Murray,
I'm writing regarding your band, The Jolly Rogues. I got your most recent CD, 14 Miles to Boston, and I really like what you guys are doing. My favorite tracks are Soldier's Joy / Liberty, Bonnie Charlie, Hal An Tow and The Fox. From the looks of your website you guys are a lot more popular than I realised, which is good because New England needs a cultural revival band. The Maritimes have Stan Rogers. The Brittish Isles have more than I would list, most notably Steeleye Span. Why shouldn't this area have a popular folk band?

an excellent cd. With what imagination would dictate as very accurate reproductions of tavern music from the 1700's. Very good traveling music.

****  Fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a very talented group of Musicians who are carving out a unique niche in local musical entertainment. The Rogues appear attired in either 18th or 19th Century clothing or a combination of the two periods, adding to the color and charm of the performance.         Three-year old Allison is a big "Jolly Rogues" music fan. Her dad
obtained a copy of the CD "Capt. Billy's Privateers" and played it
around
the house and in the car. Now, whenever Jay buckles Allison into her car
seat for a ride and asks what CD she would like to hear for the trip, she
begins chanting "J-o-l-l-y  R-o-g-u-e-s...J-o-l-l-y
R-o-g-u-e-s... J-o-l-l-y  R-o-g-u-e-s

Email from a Fan, It arrived! Patrick came in with a package, the Road to Boston. Immediately, Alexander and I popped it in and listened to it . I haven't heard your voice in I don't know how long, so it was nice to hear your introductions. As he bounced around on my knee, Alex loved the spirited sound and the fun ride from my foot tapping and my metal knees moving to the beat. From my Club Passim visits, I knew most of the titles. Your group produced an excellent, clean sound. I like that it is uncluttered. It has a good sound. It is an achievement you should be proud of. The entire concept, packaging, and product is a class act. With the historical connection and the quality music, I imagine that the CD will do well. In the weeks to come, I'll be listening to Road to Boston instead of watching the repeats of the Noggin offerings. You and the other three created an outstanding product. Congratulations. Dear Jim and the Jolly Rogues, We all loved your program at the Winslow House. It was particularly appropriate for the place and time. Everyone remarked on how much they enjoyed it and as it is a new venture for us the response pleased us a lot. It was great fun to meet you all and we hope you'll come again next year. Also we appreciate the price you gave us. Thanks again, Cynthia Krusell, President of the Historic Winslow House
